In our Triplification Challenge Winner entry at I-SEMANTICS 2010, we showed how Twarql uses information extraction, SPARQL and DBpedia to help users manage streams of information from Twitter. We demonstrated Twarql in a brand tracking scenario, following tweets that mentioned the (then new) Apple I-Pad, gathering information about user locations, sentiment and even automatically detected competitors (aided by background knowledge from DBpedia).
